We may still be basking in the glow of success from our auction but we are also looking ahead for our next big event – Bark in the Park 2009! Bark in the Park will be on Sunday, 27 September starting at 1 pm and we anticipate another huge crowd at Ft. Toulouse . This is a great way to spend an afternoon with fellow pet lovers and with your pet. You can look forward to another day of great food, music, vendors with a wide assortment of wares, contests for pets and their owners alike, the too-cool cars from the Capital City Street Rod Association, a micro-chip clinic to help protect your pet and so much more. For more details check out our website at www.elmorehumane.com and make sure to mark your calendar so you don’t miss out on a wonderful day of fun!

And our Recipe book is still coming along but there is always room for more great recipes. Please send your recipes either to our email at hselco@bellsouth.net or mail to the shelter at HSEC, Attn: Recipes, 255 Central Plank Road , Wetumpka , AL 36092 . Please include your full name and a phone number in the event we need to ask a question about your recipe as we want to make sure it is correct.
A few weeks ago we put out a plea for dog food as we were critically low. Thanks to our supporters we are well out of the danger zone on dog food, but now it looks like we need to ask for help with cat & kitten dry food! Our supply of cat food is not only very low, but what we do have is some pretty low quality food which tends to cause upset tummies for our kitties. So now we want to ask the cat lovers out there if they can add an extra bag or two of cat food to help our cats. It has been an odd summer indeed as this is usually something we don’t need help with, but we will happily give you a tax-deduction receipt for your donation and Ms. Scarlet (our office kitty) will ‘purringly’ thank you on behalf of all of our cats and kittens!
For our Thrift Store fans, all items (unless otherwise noted) will be HALF-PRICE this week at our Tails End Thrift Store located at the shelter (255 Central Plank Road, Wetumpka, AL 36092). The store is open Thu, Fri & Sat from 9 am – 3 pm and you can find just about anything from clothes, to collectibles, linens, books, tools, furniture, an upright piano and even the proverbial kitchen sink (there are two there right now). So don’t miss the great deals and all proceeds from our Thrift Store go to help us keep helping animals in need.
“Cats do care. For example they know instinctively what time we have to be at work in the morning and they wake us up twenty minutes before the alarm goes off.” ~Michael Nelson
