Pet-of-the-Week
Hank is a two-three year old Beagle mix boy that is about 30 lbs, great with other dogs and just a very typical happy and talkative hound. Hank has a very melodious hound bay, which could be a bit much for close neighbors, but great for those who appreciate a great Beagle voice. Our adoption fee is $100 for dogs & $80 for our cats and covers their mandatory spay/or neuter, basic immunizations, de-worming, microchip, heartworm check for dogs, rabies vaccination if old enough, and a free health exam. To see Hank or any other of our great pets, come to the shelter at 255 Central Plank Road, Wetumpka, AL, 36092, call us at 334-567-3377 or go to our website at www.elmorehumane.com . We are open for adoptions Mon-Thu 10-4, Fri 10-5 and Sat from 9-3.

We won!! Thanks to all of our supporters who clicked daily on The Animal Rescue Site Shelter Challenge we finished #1 in Alabama and will receive $1000 to help our animals! On behalf of the sick and injured pets that come to us needing more than just routine care, we thank everyone since this will help us to continue our care for those special cases.
It is also time to announce the completion of a tremendous Eagle Scout Project at our shelter by Mr. Jacob Garnett of Boy Scouts of America Troop #13 of Wetumpka! Thanks to his hard work and dedication our doggy play yard has undergone a complete makeover. As a result of his design, planning, and supervision the play yard fence is now covered by a beautiful wood privacy fence, we have three new benches and a brand new, 10 x 20 storage building to replace the two small and quite old buildings that had been there for years. This was no small project and Jacob has a lot to be proud of by completing this and earning his Eagle Scout! We are so lucky that Jacob picked us for his project and it has been a sheer pleasure working with him, his troop, and family, and this is a project that has greatly improved things at our shelter. We will get pictures posted to our website and Facebook this week for those who might not live close enough to come and check out the new digs! Thank you, thank you, thank you Jacob and congratulations on your very significant achievement!
Spring has sprung and with it has come puppies, puppies, puppies! In one week we took in well over a dozen litters of puppies so there isnt a better time than now if you have been thinking of adding a new dog to your family. Check out our website at www.elmorehumane.com to see if perhaps one of these puppies is just what you have been looking for, or better yet, stop by our shelter at 255 Central Plank Road (Hwy 9) in Wetumpka. We are open for adoptions Mon - Thu, 10-4; Fri 10-5 and Sat 9-3.
If you find coming to the shelter a bit overwhelming, then we have the ticket for you so you can still find your new best friend. This Fri, Sat & Sun, we will have many of our wonderful adoptable pets at both the Montgomery and Prattville PETsMARTs in celebration of the nationwide Spring Adoption Weekend! Look for our staff, volunteers and pets to be at each location on Fri from noon 5 pm; Sat 11 am 4 pm and Sun 1 pm 4 pm. We always need a lot of volunteers to help us at these events so if you can lend a hand for a couple of hours on one of these days, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Charline Pope at 334-202-1381.
Looking ahead just a bit, we are going to also need some volunteers (contact Charline Pope) to help us with our table set up at the Elmore Antique Tractor Show and Pull on Sat, May 15th. Bring your own pet along to volunteer with you (of course they must be good in public) and enjoy a nice day outside meeting shelter supporters and answering any questions the public may have about our shelter.
The best way to get a puppy is to beg for a baby brother - and they'll settle for a puppy every time. ~Winston Pendelton
