
4th of July Activities
Here is a list of what's happening in and around the Wetumpka on July 4th, 2008:
Independence Day celebration, Gold Star Park, Wetumpka, 6pm
- Activities will include a children’s parade (lineup at 5:30 p.m.), barbecue cookoff, pie-eating competition, watermelon seed spitting contest, face tattoos, games, concessions and entertainment. The evening will conclude with a fireworks finale.
Fourth of July boat parade, Kowaliga Marina, 10 am
- Russell Marine will host the 18th annual Fourth of July boat parade. Register at any Russell Marine location to participate in a fun, colorful, patriotic parade with a personal watercraft or boat. Prizes will be awarded in several categories. For info, call 256-212-1479.
Fourth of July Blast, Lake Martin Amphitheater
- Russell Lands will host the 8th annual Fourth of July concert and fireworks display, featuring music by Bluegrass Biscuits, Sweet Young ‘Uns and more. Gate opens at 4:30 p.m., music begins at 5:30 p.m., fireworks start at dark. Food and non-alcoholic concessions will be available for purchase. Parking is provided on site. Annual Fourth of July barbecue, Seman Volunteer Fire Dept., 10 am until sold out Saturday
- The Seman VFD will serve barbecue pork and chicken plates with all the trimmings and camp stew by the quart. There will be homemade baked goods. For info, call Beckie Fomby at 567-4027.
